Smell of Gasoline & Honestly Remastered

The Adarna will be re-releasing Remastered versions of "Smell of Gasoline" and "Honestly" off their debut self-titled 2012 EP.    At the time when we released the album, we were thinking of it more as a business card in order to make connections.  10 years later these two have become heavily requested songs and often crowd favorites.    These songs represented very large steps for William, as they came at the tail end of his previous band, Veritas, coming to an end.  Smell of Gasoline was the first to pop up when William started writing for The Adarna.  It represented change and the need to continue despite everything you know reminding you of a past failed relationship. If you're familiar with Veritas' body of work, (and I highly recommend you check it out as it's available to streaming platforms) that was William's first band ever!

A lot of the music was electro-rock or as we called it "Operatic Synth Rock."  But it wasn't a full-speed-ahead "rock band."  The writing of Honestly was William's real honest stab toward writing rock vocals and riffing.  This led to a much clearer path for The Adarna. It was felt in the love they experienced from their fans but also a new demographic became clearer to the band.     The band's music video for Honestly was played at Harley-Davidson retail stores as well as at gyms like LA Fitness.  Armed Forces Radio would also air the band's song for listening and eventually leading towards more troops and MWR-focused events like the Project Gratitude Tour to SW Asia and more recently performing at Whidbey Naval Base.

We are proud to release these songs because of what they have led us to find and become.   "I have seen band's not willing to perform older material which led them to the entire reason why we showed up to their concert," states William.  "They would use excuses like it's 'overplayed' or 'we're bored of playing this song.'  I think that's the worst thing you could say to something or someone you loved passionately.  Yes, we may be very excited about new material but the only reason why we can even talk about new material is BECAUSE of what we did in the past.  We owe it to our fans and followers to be proud of showing our past works of art.  The respect they deserve is by playing the shit out of them!  Otherwise, why play out?"

“What’s Your Name” Single Release 12/20/22!

What's Your Name (Single) Artwork. The Adarna 2022

Hey all!  William here.  We are proud to announce our next latest single "What's Your Name" which releases Dec 20th this year!  Hot dog!  Just in time for the holidays.  It will be available for streaming on all platforms.

This was a particularly interesting recording for me.  There is always a race that exists when creating art.  In order to capture art at the moment you can't overthink or sit on anything for too long.  Despite what I just said, accompanied by the factors of 1) how the pandemic changed the music scene 2) Bringing in Jake Lord as our new guitarist 3)  and me physically being bogged down by creating a new studio from scratch... this release is long overdue.    Some interesting challenges were that this marks one of the first songs we recorded ourselves without a producer.  (The first song we released without a producer was "Braver Than Yesterday.")  We also blended guitars recorded through amplifiers back in 2019 with new tracking through the Headrush systems in 2022.   We're finding this recording method is giving it this warm yet "crispy" sound...oooh!  Good tone word!

The concept of this song has been rattling around for a minute for me.   All manors of people are encouraged to share details of their lives with a cyber public.  It is fascinating to get glimpses into people's lives but often we forget that initial step of just introducing ourselves to one another.  In other words, "what's your name?"

You can check out Lyrics, credits, and get a sneak preview of the track all from here.

ASPJ Fundraiser Success!! #PornJamBabies

Check out how the whole night went down! Watch videos of members of William's bands and a debut drumming performance!

Well, I had a blast at the 19th Annual All-Star Porn Jam 2022!!  The lineup was incredible!  If you're not in-the-know...it's an annual fundraiser held at Seattle's oldest saloon, The Central Saloon.   Hundreds of Seattle bands get together and swap members for charity to play covers that not only rooock but help out PAWS (helping out fuzzy friends) & NW Harvest (helping families in need.)  It has become known to some of us reoccurring members as the "musician's company Christmas Party."

It's probably one of my favorite things about Seattle.  Coming from Los Angeles, we didn't have much of a music scene.  Everyone felt very separated and not much collaboration or comradery in the LA Scene.   When I was first introduced to ASPJ in 2008 (later performing in 2009,) my band at the time, Veritas, all participated and man we were hooked!  It feels great to catch up with all the band members performing and see how their passions have been developing.   This year proved particularly difficult because the last 2 years were canceled due to COVID and we were all nervous about how it would go...  it was awesome 🙂

So what's up with the Porn?  A fine question.  I like to think that this is your porn-star team... you're not supposed to make a band with them because that dude is a bad-ass guitar player but he's friggin' nuts!  So for one night only.  We make Porn Jam babies. #PornJamBabies

William Perry Moore Playing Drums

This year I got to really push myself.  One of the great things these events offer is a chance to do other bands' songs that perhaps don't fit your normal instrument or project.   You can see from the video that I was popping around a lot on different instruments.  This actually was my first time playing drums in front of people! Only threw one stick. Whew.  As you can see...I was jacked!  Wipe that smile off your face, William!  Rock is serious!

Another reason I have a great love for this event is that I feel I am obligated to invite new blood in.  I want others to be as excited about this as I am.  Some of the people performing were even my students from WVS!

This year I was proud to invite new bloods and first-time Porn Jammers:

My bandmate's from The Adarna, Jake Lord on 8-string guitar (yikes) & Oliver Spencer on bass as well as Devon from Devilry & Revolution Red on vocals.  I finally tracked down the OTHER Will Moore in Seattle and asked him to play bass on a song for me.

FUN LITTLE TIDBIT:  StayC from Death by Overkill was the first person to let me play bass on one of her songs for ASPJ.  I had such a great time doing it that we broke the rules and created the band, Death by Overkill, from fellow Porn-Jammers Jake Jovanovich & Elliott Nutt.

Finally, the greatest compliment I could've hoped for happened when some friends and musicians asked if they could cover The Adarna's "Sugar" song at ASPJ.  I know the singer was getting over a cold, but I was very honored to see them pumping up the crowd and giving me a chance to watch my OWN song unfold!  What an experience! Loved it!

The Adarna is the BJ & Migs Loud and Local Band of the Week

The Adarna Loud and Local Band of the Week KISW

Taking their name from a mythical phoenix-like songbird in Filipino folklore, The Adarna [pronounced uh-darn-uh] are the first band to ever coin their genre as “Jet City Rock,” due to their proximity to Seattle's Boeing Field. Known for their relentless energy and aggressive tour schedules, this international touring artist is armed with a 3rd album titled "Road to Resonance." May 2022 marked the 10-year anniversary of the group and marked the group's 11th National Tour including performing on the Mainstage at Bratfest Wisconsin.  This follows their last pre-pandemic Tour where The Adarna toured through Canada and North America with Hinder and Saving Abel.

New Single, New Sleek Look and a 10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Braver Than Yesterday The Adarna Artwork Thank you guys for being patient with us!  We are excited to announce that April 1st, 2022 will not only mark our 10 Year Anniversary show in Seattle but it also marks a new era for The Adarna!  10 Years!  Can you believe it!?  In that time we did 2 international tours, 8 national tours, released 3 albums, ran with all the punches that came with touring, new members, and sweet Jet City Rock riffs.  But NOW, we are onto our most devastatingly handsome phase of The Adarna.  To kick off this new era we are releasing our single "Braver Than Yesterday" which will be available on all streaming platforms on April 1st.  Y'know, like April fools day....but seriously.

TELL US ABOUT THE SONG!

My, my you're eager... I like that!  During the pandemic, The Adarna changed to being a 3-piece, which meant a shift in the way that the songs would be written.  Traditionally, we had written songs to focus on a more distinct rhythm versus a lead section that would dance around the vocals.  Being down a guitarist meant we had to look at breaking down chords to more essential sequences and the bass would need to take a larger weight load of the melody.  This was a really different way to think that led us down a whole path of a new way of writing.  So you'll be seeing some changes in the way we write moving forward!

Separately, this also marked a chance for us to step up our recording game.  All parts were recorded and produced by The Adarna.  This was about us deciding how to take full control of our music and artistic direction.  Which probably had something to do with calling our song, "Braver Than Yesterday."

NEW ERA?

Yes sir, yes sir!  The Adarna are welcoming Jake Lord into the fold as their mighty new six-string samurai!  Jake came to the band after Braver Than Yesterday was already written, but his distinct style complimented William's guitar playing so much that we decided to reopen the recording session and have him play on the song.   We are excited about the energy and creativity he's bringing to The Adarna and moving forward we will be sure to have him woo you with his sultry vocals, mind-gasmic guitar solos,  and flurry of weed-a-lee weed-a-lees. #weedalee4life

Headlining 9/11 Freedom Fest & Wendy Gets Sparkly New Floors

Hey to everyone!  William here, we haven't checked in for a while but I thought I'd give you the 411 with us.    The Adarna is out playing shows in Washington and Oregon.  Check the website for updates.   Wanted to make an announcement about The Adarna headlining the upcoming Freedom Fest hosted by Harley-Davidson in Tacoma on Saturday 9/11/21.   This is a free event going from 12-4pm.   The Adarna headlines at 3pm!  Should be a great time to show your support, check out the other bands, beer garden, food trucks, and all the Harleys!     [Facebook Event Page]

In preparation for all the gigs The Adarna are doing, we decided to give Wendy a new floor overhaul.  With plans for The Adarna doing another national tour in 2022, we wanted to get rid of that carpet in Wendy.  It seemed like every time we cleaned the floor and turned around, she was trapping more dirt everywhere.  With that in mind, we yanked out all of the chairs and benches and put down a layer of Dynamat.   The goal of this was to help quiet up the cabin as well as reduce the heat coming through the floor.  One issue we've been noticing is that the floor gets very warm, especially in the summer while we're driving.   After that, some awesome-looking vinyl floors were put in.   Check out the video!

Merry Xmas, I Don’t Want To Fight Tonight..

Well here's a fun cover that I got to do with my old bandmates, The Slants. Most of us are living in different parts of the country these days but it was fun to do an online recording with my brothers-in-arms. It was especially a treat because there were members of The Slants that I never got to play with since they were either before or after I left the group.

So without further ado, please enjoy our cover of Ramones "Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight)."  Performed by Aron Moxley (vocals), Joe X Jiang (keys), Ken Shima (vocals), Simon Tam (bass), Thai Dao (DOUBLE bass), Tyler Chen (vocals), Yuya Matsuda (drums), and yours truly on geeeetar!   Have a great New Year and we'll see you out there!
